LGBTQ+ rapper Lil Nas X has reportedly been arrested and taken to hospital after being found wandering the streets of LA in his underwear.

On Thursday (21 August) the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) were called to Ventura Boulevard at 05:30 (12:30 GMT) over reports of a man walking down the street in his underwear.

As reported by the BBC, police allege that the “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” hitmaker “charged” at them, resulting in him being placed under arrested on suspicion of battery. The rapper was later taken to hospital after it was feared he may have possibly taken an overdose.

News of his arrest follows an unverified video of the star published by TMZ.

In the video, the singer can be seen dancing in the street in white underwear and white cowboy boots. He tells the person filming, “hey, don’t be late to the party tonight”.

Lil Nas X’s arrest follows the two-time Grammy Award winner’s hospitalisation in April after he experienced sudden facial paralysis.

After fans voiced their concerns that he could be having “a stroke”, he shared: “Guys I am OK. Stop being sad for me. Shake ur ass for me instead.”

The 26-year-old is expected to release his second studio album DREAMBOY later this year.

He released a single in March that shares its title with his upcoming album. On the piano-led, progressive hip-hop single, the Atlanta-born performer pokes fun at his sexuality, takes a swipe or two at his homophobic detractors, and reflects on his own patchy success in the music industry.

“Alright, okay, s**t, let’s talk in factuations. I like long Black d**k and I like long conversations,” he raps on the lengthy first verse. “I like cuddlin’ with my cats and I like boys who have a smell to ’em. Controversy king, yeah, I love the raise, hell to ’em.”

He continues by throwing out a reference to the backlash he’s endured since coming out as gay in 2019, spitting: “I heard the s**t y’all say about me when y’all in ’em churches. Y’all stanky booty b***hes take my fun and make it misery.”
