The BBC’s new dating reality series is set to include a lesbian couple.
Stranded on Honeymoon Island, will feature 12 singles ready to “take a giant leap into the unknown” as they embark on a honeymoon with someone they’ve only known for five minutes.
“Stranded on six remote, tropical beaches, these six newly formed couples must communicate and collaborate to get by, with nowhere to run when the going gets tough,” a synopsis of the show promised.
The point of the series, hosted by Davina McCall, is to see whether love can thrive when free of distractions. A short trailer offered a glimpse at some of the drama set to unfold.
The couples will meet in a speed-dating scenario before being matched up and “married”. They will then be stranded on the island in the Philippines for three weeks without any additional clothes, communication with family and friends or luxuries. If things don’t work out, then can light a distress flare.
“It’s the deep learning that people do about themselves, about other people and what they want,” McCall has said about how the new series differed from other dating shows. “I think it really cements what they want and what’s important in life.”
Among those taking part in the series are Abby and Helen. Here’s what we know about them.
Abby, 32, from Berkshire

Described as “an avid fitness enthusiast [who] loves spending time outdoors,” taking part in activities such as hiking and snowboarding, and having played football for Bristol City and in the US, Abby sounds well-equipped for the physical challenges ahead.
Keen to put her “player” past behind her, Abby is eager to “settle down with someone who shares her desire to build something meaningful”.
She wants to start a family, a goal that has made her more focused “on finding a genuine connection with someone who is on the same page about the future,” she told the BBC.
Her type is “blonde femmes with an athletic build”, someone “with a bit of spice,” who is kind and caring, she added.
Helen, 35, from Manchester

Helen described herself as “bubbly, with a zest for life,” and “the life and soul of any party”.
Among her skills are singing, dancing and playing the ukulele! Single since early last year, she has a preference for masc-presenting women and is looking for someone “tall, dark and handsome”, someone “positive, passionate and ambitious,” who doesn’t take themselves too seriously.
Tattoos get “an extra tick,” Helen added.
