A Moms for Liberty campaigner has protested against trans people using changing rooms by stripping off her top and jeans in public.

The organisation is known for opposing the mention of LGBTQ+ rights, race and ethnicity, critical race theory and discrimination in school curriculums, but Beth Bourne, the chairwoman of the group’s chapter in Yolo County, California, took that opposition one step further on Thursday (18 September) by stripping down to what appeared to be a bikini during a Davis School Board meeting.

A video circulating on social media shows Bourne taking the microphone to address the board about the Davis Unified School District’s trans-inclusive junior high school toilets and locker-room policies.

“Right now, we require our students to undress for PE class, so I’m just going to give you an idea of what that looks like when I undress,” she said. Removing her top, she added: “This school district is saying that depending on a child’s transgender identity, that they can pick which bathroom they want.

“Right now, at this school district, we have children self-identifying into different bathrooms.”

She then removed her jeans, prompting one board member to protest. However, Bourne insisted “this is allowed,” highlighting that she was wearing a bathing suit. After someone else called for a recess, she accused the board of violating her First Amendment rights.

Bourne told journalists that she didn’t feel her protest was disruptive, adding: “I thought I made a really good point.”

Last year, Bourne was detained by police after she spotted drag queens in the lobby of the Hawaiian hotel where she was staying.

“I am not OK with children being exposed to drag queens,” she wrote on X/Twitter. “Several other hotel guests told me they also found it offensive so I spoke to the manager. I was briefly detained by police, refunded my hotel charges and have no regrets for speaking up.”
