Julia Garner channels Madonna in new photoshoot after confirming biopic is still in motion

Julia Garner’s latest photoshoot has her looking the very picture of Madonna, which bodes well for the biopic.
The 31-year-old Ozark star was cast as Madge way back in 2022 but since then the updates we’ve had have not all been all that inspiring. However, the latest came from Garner herself as she told W Magazine earlier this month, “I can’t say too much about it, but yes, it’s a work in progress.”
Now the Inventing Anna star has dazzled the internet with her resemblance to the “Material Girl” singer. Not that we weren’t already convinced she was the ideal person to play the “Vogue” singer.
In a shoot with CR Fashion Book Garner can be seen wearing a black ensemble from Gucci including bra, pants, tights and shoes. Paired with platinum blond curls, very reminiscent of early Madonna’s look, the resemblance is uncanny.
“It’s giving Open Your Heart meets Breathless M,” a fan wrote on one instagram post from the shoot. “First photo smells like Open Your Heart music video,” agreed another. Someone else simply stated: “She’s Madonna.”
On a separate post in the same outfit, Garner was labelled “Our [madonna] in the cinema very soon.”
The actress didn’t discuss the topic of Madonna’s biopic in the interview accompanying the shoot. But we’re more than happy with the imagery which demonstrates how excellent a casting Garner is for Madonna.
A Madonna biopic was first announced in 2020. It was then revealed to have been paused indefinitely in 2023. The next update came in 2024 from Madonna herself, who hinted that the project could become a series instead.
In May it was reported that the singer was working with Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy on a TV series. The pair, we were told, “had been discussing the project for a while.” Although the show was “starting from scratch,” Garner, who plays the Silver Surfer in the latest Marvel movie, had “remained engaged.”
Last week, Madonna announced a new album, likely a sequel to 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor.
