Online trolls are being brutally shut down after commenting on Chappell Roan’s body hair.

Chappell Roan’s body hair became a topic after the Grammy Award-winning pop star, born Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, performed at Forest Hills Stadium in New York on 20 September.

Dressed in a structured red corset that deserved all the attention, Chappell Roan drew some criticism from trolls who pointed out her visible underarm hair, with some even dubbing it a sign of “bad hygiene”.

But fans of the 27-year-old lesbian icon quickly shut down the hateful comments, with one person calling out the double standards between men and women, writing: “Men should start shaving PROMPTLY.”

Another questioned why someone zoomed in to begin with, while another comment read: “Controversial take, I think men’s obsession with women being hairless sits uncomfortably close to pedophilia. The cultural obsession men have with a completely hairless female body deserves scrutiny.”

“And what about men who in his entire life time didn’t even groom himself,” another commented of the double standard.

Another pointed out the nasty comments as “immature,” while another comment read: “The replies show just how fragile some men are. Like, bro, you can just say you personally don’t find body hair attractive in a woman. You don’t need to talk out your ass and act like there’s some science backing up your personal taste.”

According to Health.com, underarm hair helps regulate body temperature and protects the skin. The hair itself is not odorous; regular washing of the underarms is necessary with or without hair to prevent odour.

Chappell Roan’s debut studio album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, released in 2023, shot her to global stardom with her hit “Pink Pony Club”, and many have been clamouring for more from the singer.

However, in August, Roan revealed that a second album does not yet exist. She also insisted that she’s not going to be rushing the creative process.
