Mid-Century Modern has been cancelled after one season (Hulu)

Mid-Century Modern, the delightfully gay sitcom starring Matt Bomer, Nathan Lane and Nathan Lee Graham, has been cancelled at Hulu after one season.

Led by Fellow Travelers star Matt Bomer as a former Mormon who leaves the Church after his ex-wife outs him as gay, Nathan Lane as a well-to-do businessman on the brink of retiring and Nathan Lee Graham as a fashion industry veteran, Mid-Century Modern‘s first season followed the trio as they share their ‘golden years‘ in Palm Springs.

With a plethora of queer and queer-adjacent guest stars, the Hulu sitcom was a hit with fans and critics, garnering an 88% certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes – but it has now been cancelled after just one season in 2024.

Taking to Instagram, series creator Max Mutchnick (Will & Grace) lamented the lack of renewal, calling ten episodes of the show “not enough” for fans.

“Ten great episodes… Not enough. But we loved making every single one of them. We’re gonna miss our very special show. Thanks to everyone who watched.”

Mid-Century Modern also starred the late Linda Lavin, who died aged 87 in December 2024.

The comments of the post have been filled with fans and stars lamenting the end of Mid-Century Modern; writer Dan Bucatisky wrote: “We became a family to create a tv show about chosen family. And nobody can take that away from us. It was magical.

“And filled Linda Lavin with so much joy at the end of her life. This was a blessing on a blessing ! Grateful to have been a part of it!!
