In case you were wondering: yes, Tom Daley has brought his knitting needles with him to the Celebrity Traitors castle in the Scottish Highlands.
The Olympic diving champion is one of a number of LGBTQ+ stars taking part in the celebrity edition of the reality show, which begins on Wednesday (8 October). Speaking to the BBC ahead of the first episode, Daley said he wasn’t going into the show with “too much of a strategy”, adding: “I’m going to go with the flow and deal with each situation as it arises.”

He admitted he was looking forward to the challenges and felt he’d make an excellent Traitor or Faithful.
Asked if he’d be knitting as a way of unwinding on the devious show, he replied: “Yes, absolutely every day. I’ve got a suitcase full of wool”.
The knitting enthusiast first made headlines for his unexpected skill when he was spotted hard at work in the stands at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, and is set to host The Game of Wool on More 4 later this year.
Among the other contestants on The Celebrity Traitors are queer stars Alan Carr, Clare Balding, singer-songwriter Cat Burns and Stephen Fry. Others hoping to raise £100,000 ($135,000) for charity include singers Charlotte Church and Paloma Faith and TV and radio host Jonathan Ross.
The celebrities must complete a series of challenges as a team. However, among them are traitors secretly sabotaging the missions with the aim of “killing” off their fellow contestant one by one.
The Celebrity Traitors begins at 9pm on Wednesday (8 October) on BBC One and the iPlayer.
