Queer Taylor Swift fans have a reason to celebrate this weekend, as dancer and choreographer Whyley Yoshimura has praised the pop star for platforming LGBTQ+ representation.

In the fourth episode of Taylor Swift’s docuseries, The End of an Era, Yoshimura features heavily as he expresses his love for the “All Too Well” hitmaker.

In the episode, the 36-year-old dancer opened up about his inclusion in the dance troupe. “I was so honoured that she would be down, that she even trusted me to step in so last minute,” he explained.

“But I’m even more honoured that I get to share the stage with someone who sees me. Not only sees me, she celebrates me.

“It’s not really that often where a male dancer can do a female part; even be allowed to flourish as much as he wants in that part.

“I want to be that example for anyone, any person, male, female, nonbinary. I want them to feel seen just like how I felt seen by Taylor.”

Yoshimura also praised Swift’s emotional investment in The Eras Tour. He said he’d “never seen the boss come into rehearsal crying with tears of happiness and passion about their job.”

Having previously worked with artists such as Janet Jackson, Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez, Yoshimura is no stranger to the industry. But his first spotlight was in 2011 on the reality show All About Aubrey. On the show, he was Aubrey O’Day’s dance instructor.

It seems the dancer may also be married, in 2022 he posted “husband told me to post this” on Instagram.
