Luke Thompson strips off in latest Bridgerton trailer and fans can’t get enough

A new season for the ton is around the corner as Bridgerton season four nears and there’s much to discuss, including a naked Luke Thompson. Unsurprisingly, that last part has caused quite the reaction.

Netflix casually dropped the new trailer for Bridgerton‘s fourth season on Boxing Day (26 December). Much of it is focused on the love life of Benedict (Thompson), the second eldest Bridgerton boy.

And while we’ve already had a brief teaser, we’ve now got our first proper look at what is to come.

With Benedict’s mother Lady Violet’s (Ruth Gemmell) masquerade ball on the horizon, the pressure is on for Benedict to marry.

As it happens, he finds The Lady in Silver at the ball who completely absorbs him. He’s then sent on a Cinderella-like quest when all that’s left behind from their first encounter is a white glove.

It just so happens the lady in question is Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha). The trouble is, she’s actually a maid working for Lady Araminta Gun (Katie Leung). 

One scene from the trailer shows Benedict emerging, seemingly naked, from a lake while Sophie watches from behind a tree.

It’s only a couple of shots but nevertheless, they have garnered a lot of attention from fans and viewers.

“Luke didn’t need the Bridgerton glow up and I am glad we get another Bridgerton man slowly exiting out of a lake,” wrote one fan underneath the trailer on YouTube.

Arguably one of the most iconic moments in Bridgerton was when Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) exited a lake after falling in.

“THE LAKE SCENE OMGGGG,” added another fan while someone else wrote, “I’M SAT,” on X/Twitter.

Someone else said: “I’d be wide-eyed too if I saw a handsome, naked man named Benedict Bridgerton in a lake.”

Generally, the trailer has amped up fans’ excitement for the season. Though it does little to offer insight into whether Benedict’s queerness will be explored further.

There have been snippets of it in pasts seasons, most notably in season three when the bohemian Bridgerton engaged in a threesome with Lady Tilley Arnold (Hannah New) and her lover, Paul Suarez (Lucas Aurelio).

And greater LGBTQ+ representation in the show has been teased by the cast and the source materials’ author alike.

Showrunner Jess Brownell has previously said that Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) will begin a gay relationship in season four.

At the end of season three, Francesca met her husband John Stirling’s (Victor Alli) cousin, Michaela Stirling (Masali Baduza).

Bridgerton season four will drop in two halves, the first on 29 January and the second on 26 February.
