Vanderpump Rules star Venus Binkley has said he’s “proud” to be the only out gay cast member.
Amid the reboot of the reality TV show with its 12th season, viewers and former cast accused the all-new cast of being influencers, rather than actual staff of Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant SUR.
Newbies to the cast include Venus Binkley, Jason Cohen, Shayne Davis, Chris Hahn, Angelica Jensen, Marcus Johnson, Audrey Lingle, Natalie Maguire, Demy Selem, and Kim Suarez.
In his bio, Binkley described himself as the “glue that holds the SUR staff together and the confidant everyone turns to for advice … and the latest gossip”.
‘I’m proud…’
Addressing claims that the new cast are merely influencers who have been “handed a TV show”, Binkley said: “Who’s an influencer? Because if we were influencers, we wouldn’t be broke. I wouldn’t be waiting tables at SUR every week if this was just a production.”
He added that despite the hate there’s been “way more love”.
Speaking about being the only gay man on the show, he said he was keen to bring up his sexuality on camera to ensure the community is represented. “I’m proud to be myself and I want people to see it,” he said.
So far, Binkley appears to be a hit on the show, with comments under his social media posts praising him as “great”.
“Fav on the show,” one person wrote, while another commented under a recent post: “You are GREAT babe! Love seeing you on VPR!!!”
“The # 1 guy in the group,” another comment read, referencing former cast member Jax Taylor’s quote, in which he declared himself the “number one guy in the group”.
“You are carrying the new season of VPR on your back babe, the only reason I tune in,” another fan commented on a recap of 2025 posted by Binkley.
Vanderpump Rules season 12 premiered on 2 December and can be watched on Hayu in Canada, the UK and Ireland.
