Margot Robbie says a male co-star gifted her a weight loss book

Margot Robbie in Wuthering Heights

Wuthering Heights star Margot Robbie has revealed that her male co-star gifted her a weight loss book. Yes, really.

The Barbie icon, who stars in the movie as protagonist Cathy, alongside Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff, spoke about the horrendous gift in a chat with Charli XCX, who soundtracked the film.

“Very, very early in my career a male actor I worked with gave me a book called ‘Why French Women Don’t Get Fat’, and it was essentially a book telling you to eat less…I was like, ‘woah, f*** you, dude’.”

Asked if the man is still around, she said: “I have no idea where he would even be now.”

“Your career’s over, babe,” Charli remarked.

One person commented under a post highlighting the interview: “Giving Margot Robbie advice on her appearance is like telling the sun how to shine. I need to see this man’s career trajectory vs hers. I bet the graph is hilarious.”

“I love her response, men should never be in a conversation about women’s bodies,” another person wrote, while someone else added: “Imagine thinking Margot Robbie needs advice on weight. The audacity was heavier than the book.”

Robbie previously shared that she was never meant to play Cathy in the film.

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, she shared: “I wasn’t always going to be in it.

“I was thrilled to be the producer but at some point, we were talking about Cathy, and I decided to throw my hat in the ring.

“I’ve always wanted to be one of Emerald [Fennell]’s actors and fortunately, she felt the same way. It worked out wonderfully.”

Elordi said of his role in the film: “I didn’t know Emerald had seen and liked me in Saltburn.

“I was travelling when I got a text message from her saying, ‘Do you want to be Heathcliff?’ and I wrote, ‘Yeah.’”
