Rafael Olarra, who made headlines this week for hanging out with The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal, is much more than the actor’s new pal.
The Argentinian native, 47, has a pretty high-profile career and is no stranger to hanging around with famous faces. Olarra, who was spotted spending time with Pedro Pascal, 50, in New York last week and Los Angeles earlier this week, also has a very famous ex-boyfriend.
Who is Rafael Olarra?
Not to be confused with the former Chilean football player of the same name, Pedro Pascal’s pal Rafael Olarra is the creative director at Faena, a luxury, international hospitality brand specialising in hotels and restaurants, founded by Argentinian hotelier Alan Faena. He has reportedly been in the role since 2015.
On his website, the 47-year-old describes his role as being “in charge of materialising Alan Faena’s vision and work to improve the Faena district which was created in collaboration with the incredible minds of Baz Luhrmann, Catherine Martins, Ximena Caminos, Juan Gatti, Rem Koolhas, Foster, Oma, Francis Mallman, Paul qui and many more”.
Olarra also works as a freelance art director for “fashion campaigns, editorials, advertising, exhibitions, TV, theatre and events”.
On Instagram, Olarra describes himself as an “adventurous traveler”, a “motivated climber” and a “triathlete”.
On his page, he’s posted about hanging out with none other than Cher, RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Violet Chachki and model Gisele Bündchen.
In 2022, he was reportedly based in Miami, Florida as per The Sun, though it’s unclear where he resides today. He was born in Argentina and reportedly studied for a time in Madrid.
Which famous celebrity did Rafael Olarra previously date?
Rafael Olarra hit the headlines numerous times between 2019 and 2021 when it was confirmed that he was in a relationship with Welsh, gay Beauty and the Beast actor, Luke Evans.
Olarra and Evans got together in the summer of 2019, and later appeared together on the red carpet of the Frozen 2 premiere in November 2019. The couple were spotted visiting a Broadway show in January 2020 and went “Instagram official” the following month. They reportedly spent lockdown together in Miami during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Rumours began to swirl in the autumn of 2020 that the pair had gone their separate ways and Evans confirmed their split in January 2021, telling The Times: “It is what it is.”
Evans has since move on, and has been in a relationship with entrepreneur Fran Thomas since 2021.
It is not known who Olarra has been in a relationship with since dating Luke Evans.
