Pansexual Uncut Gems star Julia Fox’s steamy lesbian romance Perfect just premiered at SXSW Film Festival, and it’s got everyone talking.
From panty sniffing to pregnant sex, Millicent Hailes’s film has left quite the impression. Perfect is Hailes’s directorial debut.
“Leave horny, people! Leave horny,” Hailes told the SXSW audience at the film’s World Premiere screening.
“It’s just fun. It’s just hot, c***, sexy, sweaty, fun,” is how the filmmaker described the film, Variety also reported.
Hailes is known for directing music videos, including the likes of Lil Yachty and Young Thug. With Perfect, FKA Twigs is providing the soundtrack.
In a post-screening Q&A, Hailes explained her decision to use Twigs’ dance songs to soundtrack the many sex scenes.
“I really wanted some pivotal, poignant moments to be to those songs, because, [‘Eusexua’] just really resonated with me,” Hailes said.
Who stars in Perfect?
Alongside Fox as Mallory, I Know What You Did Last Summer’s Ashley Moore stars in the leading role of Kai.
The supporting cast includes Shirley’s Micaela Wittman and After the Hunt’s Lío Mehiel.
Additionally, there’s North Hollywood’s Ryder McLaughlin, The ‘L’ Word’s Kate Moennig, and The Office’s Creed Bratton.
What is the plot of Perfect?
Perfect follows Kai (Moore) living out of her car after a devastating breakup. She’s trapped in a desert town after the world is affected by a contaminated water supply.
While roaming, she discovers a hidden lake, her answer to the shortage of clean water. However, the pure water has attracted a group of outsiders, who have created their own mini utopia.
It’s here that Kai meets Mallory (Fox), who is described by one character as a “total MILF.” Mallory is a wealthy pregnant woman who is running away from her past.
“Drawn together despite their differences, the two begin a passionate romance,” the film’s synopsis reads.
“But as their connection deepens, Kai uncovers the secrets behind Mallory’s carefully constructed life.”
When will Perfect be released?
Perfect has just had its world premiere at SXSW and is currently seeking buyers.
