Heartstopper’s Bradley Riches devastated by family death same week as his wedding

Bradley Riches has shared tragic news of the death of his grandmother, days before he is set to marry his boyfriend.
The Heartstopper actor, who joined ITV soap Emmerdale last year, announced his engagement to his partner Scott Johnson in April 2024.
Sadly, as he revealed in a TikTok video on Tuesday (31 March), that he had lost his nan.
He wrote over clips of them together: “Never thought in a million years that I’d be saying goodbye to my beautiful nan the same week as my wedding.”
Riches added in the caption: “Forever in my heart. You are the best – love you and I will save you a seat.”
His post was filled with well-wishes from fans. One said: “Sending so much love over.” Another added: “I’m so sorry for your loss, try to include your nan with something on your wedding day, a special piece of jewellery or her favourite colour, whatever you do she will be with you on your special day.”
He also posted a photo of them together on Instagram, saying: “Before she passed, she told me she’d be with me on my big day… and I know she will be.”

The actor’s sad news comes the same week he and boyfriend Scott are set to tie the knot after two years of being engaged.
He revealed earlier this year that his wedding guests would include plenty of famous faces. As well as appearing on Heartstopper and Emmerdale, he was a housemate on Celebrity Big Brother two years ago.
Riches told Daily Mail: “So obviously we’ve got my new friends from Emmerdale, a couple of them are coming. Heartstopper, some of them. The Big Brother lot.
“I think all of the Big Brother lot are actually coming. Like David [Potts], Colson [Smith], Nikita [Kuzmin], Sharon [Osbourne], Levi [Roots], Zeze [Millz], Marisha [Wallace], Ekin-Su [Cülcüloğlu], and other people I’ve met along the way, like Arlene Phillips, Tasha [Ghouri] from Love Island.”
