Perez Hilton apologises for ‘selfish behaviour’ after finding God

Perez Hilton

Perez Hilton has issued a public apology for his past actions, saying he is filled with “shame and regret” following a recent medical crisis.

In a video shared to social media, Hilton reflected on his career and the backlash he has faced over the years, just over a week after revealing he had been hospitalised for 21 days with sepsis and infections.

“I made a lot of mistakes in my past. We all have. Nobody’s perfect,” he said.

“But my mistakes are very public. The internet is forever. Receipts are forever. I carry with me deep shame and regret. I’m sorry.”

Hilton added that he has attempted to make amends both publicly and privately, saying he has apologised to “dozens of people”.

“Because I was so selfish, because I didn’t care who I hurt, I just cared about the views, the attention, the money — people hated me,” he said. “Some people enjoyed it, but it felt like most people hated me.”

During the video, Hilton referenced a spiritual experience he says occurred while he was ill, adding: “I know that God loves me. God has forgiven me, and almost more importantly, I have forgiven myself.”
