Democrats fire off blunt response as White House staffer claims James Talarico is transgender

Stephen Miller and James Talarico

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) had an incredible, blunt response after White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller falsely said that James Talarico was transgender.

Miller’s outburst came after the DNC promoted LGBTQ+ ally Talarico on X, after Ken Paxton was nominated in the Texas GOP Senate primary.

He wrote: “The Democrats made history in Texas by nominating their first transgender senate candidate.”

Talarico is not transgender, but has spoken a number of times in support of the trans and wider LGBTQ+ community.

Posting from the official @TheDemocrats account, the DNC replied: “Shut up you ugly f***.”

Talarico has found himself in the firing line from a number of Republicans, including President Donald Trump, due to his comments. Particular backlash came after Talarico described God as “non-binary”, as God “can’t be defined by human categories”.

James Talarico responds

Speaking to CBS News, Talarico said opponents, including Paxton, are “clipping” his comments on subjects such as gender to “distract from his career of corruption”.

He said Republicans are “worried about the movement that we’re building here in Texas”, adding that “tens of thousands of Texans”, even those who aren’t Democrats, were showing up to rally with him.

Talarico said: “I think we’re reaching people who don’t normally vote for Democratic candidates. We’re also reaching a lot of first-time voters, a number of young people, who’ve been showing up at our events, who’ve been signing up to volunteer and donate.”

The Senate hopeful addressed his “intentionally provocative” claims, saying: “I know there are two sexes, men and women. I also know there’s a very small percentage of people who have these chromosomal abnormalities, and I believe they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.”

It isn’t just his LGBTQ+ support that has drawn criticism though, as he’s also bizarrely been accused of being a vegan.

He has previously denied this, and more recently said that as an eighth-generation Texan, he’s “been eating barbecue since before Ken Paxton’s first indictment”.

Talarico added: “If all they have is lying about me being a vegan, I feel pretty good about our chances this November.”
