Erika Kirk has encouraged conservative people to be “happy warriors” when faced with “the enemy”, which seems to include transgender people and Muslims.

Kirk, who is the CEO of Turning Point USA and the wife of the late Charlie Kirk, made the comments while speaking at the organisation’s Chapter Leadership Summit in Washington DC last weekend.

“Every day when you make the choice to fight again, not just for my husband, but for yourself and for your family, you are standing up against evil and declaring to the heavens on high that again, this world will never break you and that you are allowing the Holy Spirit to work through you in a way that will just make the enemy cower,” she said in her speech, as per The Advocate.

“So, I don’t care if it’s a trans, if it’s a gender-confused person, if it’s a Muslim, if it’s whoever else that’s standing in front of you, that’s spitting on you, that’s cussing at you, that’s throwing your buttons everywhere, I don’t care. You are what? You are what Charlie always said. You are what? You are a happy warrior. That is what you are as you fight.”

In March this year, US president Donald Trump appointed Erika Kirk to the US Air Force Academy’s Board of Visitors.

Kirk, who has no military experience, was picked to replace her late husband on the advisory board after he was shot dead last year.

Charlie Kirk also had no military experience, and said in a speech at the Liberty Forum of Silicon Valley in 2015 that he had once applied for nomination to the US Military Academy in West Point, New York, but his application was rejected.

The US Air Force Academy Board of Visitors consists of 16 members, six of which are appointed by the US president. It primarily acts as an advisory board for any logistical matters that the Academy wishes to consider.

One of its main duties is to prepare a semiannual report for the Secretary of War on recommendations regarding moral, disciplinary, instructional, and logistical matters for the academy.

Other members include Clark Success Systems CEO Dan Clark, who is known for his public speaking during the US military campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan, retired Air Force colonel Doug Nikolai, and former US National Security advisor Dina Powell.
