GMB’s Richard Arnold announces marriage to partner of 23 years in sweet snap

Good Morning Britain entertainment editor Richard Arnold has confirmed he has married his partner of 23 years Stuart, after fans initially mistook his weekend Instagram post for an engagement announcement.
Arnold, 56, clarified on Monday (21 September) that the couple had actually already got married, telling viewers they tied the knot at Hackney Town Hall in London over the weekend.
The confusion began after Arnold shared wedding snaps captioned: “The splice of life,” alongside a ring emoji.
On air, Arnold joked: “I got spliced!” He added: “Apologies if there was any confusion with the emojis on my Instagram, but this is why middle-aged men should put their phones down.”
Speaking on the show, he also described the ceremony as “very low-key no fuss”.
Arnold also shared a detail about his outfit, saying he had “raided” the show’s prop cupboard for the kilt he wore.
In the photos, he paired the kilt with a bright pink fur sporran. The couple’s Cockapoo, Clementine, also appeared in a snap wearing a bow reading “I do too”.
How the mix-up happened
Arnold and Stuart have been together for 23 years. They married on Friday, 18 September, 2026, then posted the pictures over the weekend, prompting some followers to assume the ring emoji meant a proposal rather than a wedding.
On Monday morning, Arnold set the record straight live on air, including referring to Stuart as his husband.
“That’s myself and my other half Stuart, and now my husband,” he said.

The comments under Arnold’s post quickly filled with congratulations from famous friends and colleagues.
