Strictly’s Will Best welcomes first child and reveals sweet name

Will Best is on Strictly 2026

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Will Best has announced the birth of his first child with fiancée Tobi Rose, revealing their baby boy is named Sonny Best.

The 41-year-old shared hospital photos and videos in an Instagram post announcing Sonny’s birth, writing: “Well who do we have here then?! Welcome to the world Sonny Best, you little smasher.”

Big Brother host Best also praised Rose in the caption, adding: “@tobiroseofficial you’re a miracle and I love you so much. A couple of tired new parents (see last slide) but oh my goodness aren’t we lucky xxx.”

In one clip filmed from the hospital, Best jokes to camera: “I got this really cool new thing today, lots of people get them, but they are pretty cool,” before panning down to the baby.

Will Best on becoming a dad

Best also spoke about becoming a dad in a pre-recorded clip shown on Strictly: It Takes Two. “I do have some big news to share…. My amazing, beautiful fiancée and I have got a baby now, we’ve got a little baby,” he said.

He then added: “Sunday morning he arrived. And he’s amazing, and Tobes is doing really well. And yeah, it’s the most surreal, wonderful thing. I haven’t slept for a couple days!”

Rose also joked about the reality of juggling a newborn with Strictly rehearsals, commenting: “What’s worse Will Best, a new born baby and no sleep, learning the jive on no sleep OR learning the jive at the same time as having a new born baby AND no sleep?”

Strictly stars react

Best is currently competing on Strictly Come Dancing, the long-running BBC One series that pairs celebrities with professional dancers for weekly live performances. He is also known for hosting Big Brother alongside AJ Odudu.

Congratulations quickly rolled in from familiar Strictly faces. Host Josh Widdicombe said: “Holy moly! Congratulations mate!”, as Johannes Radebe said: “Huge congratulations to you both.”

Delta Goodrem, who will not dance this week due to an injury, wrote: “Congratulations!” while pro dancer Julian Caillon said: “Yes!!! Congrats mate! So happy for you guys.”
