A Staffordshire cleric has launched a campaign to stop literature about gay relationships being shown in schools.

Pastor Rod Lewis is calling on local residents to support his opposition to a book called Daddy’s Roommate, which contains pictures of two men cuddling on the couch.

At the risk of the sky falling in by primary children gazing upon such pages, the leader of the Emmanuel New Life Centre, described the book as “totally wrong” and plans to lobby his MP.

It comes as the new Sexual Orientation Regulations, due next April, will make it illegal for goods and services providers such as schools to discriminate against gays and lesbians.

This has prompted Christians to have a quick read of all government curriculum textbooks recommended to be used in primary schools, checking they do not have any gay content.

He told local paper The Cannock Chase that the proposals are crazy, “”I am appalled. Unless the general public complains the regulations will go through.

“We are not against homosexuals, but I do not believe what is proposed for schools is right.”
