New attitude editor named
Matthew Todd has been appointed as editor of gay magazine attitude.
The title was bought two weeks ago by Trojan Publishing, whose stable of publications includes Asian Babes and Women’s Fitness. It was previously owned Remnant Media and was purchased by publisher Giant Clipper in February 2007.
attitude first appeared in May 1994.
It is famous for its fashion reportage and photography, and for the wide range of celebrities who have graced its cover.
It is also widely praised for its social journalism, the Youth issues in particular demonstrating how much of a lifeline the magazine had become for isolated gay teenagers.
In the past 18 months the title has gone through troubled times. In January and July 2007 no edition came out.
Mr Todd said:
“I’ve always been passionate about attitude and what it stands for.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity at this time to build on its success as the UK’s leading gay publication. There are plenty of new and exciting things on the way.”
Perhaps attitude‘s finest hour so far was June 2002, when David Beckham, captain of the England football team, was the cover model, weeks before the start of the World Cup.
Former editor Adam Mattera won BSME Men’s Magazine Editor of the Year in 2005, and was again nominated in 2006.
