Tea Party favourite Christine O’Donnell walked off Piers Morgans’ chat show after he asked her about gay marriage.

She was on the show yesterday to discuss her new book Troublemaker, which mentions her anti-gay views.

However, the usually outspoken politician argued that the questions were “irrelevant” and refused to answer.

When Morgan asked her to talk about gay marriage, she accused him of “borderline being a little bit rude”.

She said: “I obviously want to talk about the issues I choose to talk about in the book. I talk about my religious beliefs, yeah.”

But when Morgan asked whether she talks about gay marriage in the book, she said: “What relevance is that right now? Is there a piece of legislation?”

Morgan, citing presidential candidate Michele Bachmann, said it was “obviously a highly contentious political issue”.

O’Donell said: “Because I don’t think it’s relevant, it’s not a topic that I choose to embrace, it’s not what I’m championing right now.”

Pressing the issue, Morgan asked whether she would agree with Bachmann on whether Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell should be repealed.

Laughing, O’Donnell said she was not discussing policies or running for office.

Morgan then asked: “Why are you being so weird about this?”

O’Donnell, who said she wanted to talk about fiscal issues, replied: “I’m not being weird, you’re being a little rude.”

After arguing over what questions a host should ask, O’Donnell signalled to her left and claimed she was being “pulled away” before removing her microphone and walking off set.

O’Donnell, who opposes many gay rights measures, has said in the past that masturbation is “sinful”. In 2010, she made headlines after confessing to having “dabbled in witchcraft”.

Morgan tweeted later: “Ms. O’Donnell wasn’t happy about me quizzing her re views on witchcraft and sex. But really flipped at gay marriage Qs. Ripped mike and fled,”
