Video: “Child Celebrities Opposing Kirk Cameron (CCOKC)”
A group of former child stars have made a spoof video, called “Child Celebrities Opposing Kirk Cameron,” or CCOKC, where they attack Kirk Cameron for the anti-gay comments he made during an interview with Piers Morgan on CNN.
When asked by Mr Morgan whether he thought homosexuality was a sin, Mr Cameron said: “I think that it’s unnatural. I think that it’s detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilisation.”
On equal marriage, the evangelical former star of Growing Pains said: “I believe that marriage was defined by God. Marriage is almost as old as dirt, and it was defined in the garden between Adam and Eve… One man, one woman for life ’til death do you part. So I would never attempt to try to redefine marriage. And I don’t think anyone else should either. So do I support the idea of gay marriage? No, I don’t.”
The spoof video, which was originally posted to the website Funny or Die, features seven former child actors, including Kenn Michael from ‘The Parent ‘Hood’, Maureen Flannigan from ‘Out of This World’, Brice Beckham from ‘Mr. Belvedere’, Jeremy Licht from ‘The Hogan Family’, Christine Lakin from ‘Step by Step’, Josie Davis from ‘Charles in Charge’ and Keith Coogan from ‘Adventures in Babysitting’.
The authors in the video declare their mission thus: “Together we’re pledging together to raise awareness about a serious threat to our civil rights, Kirk Cameron’s stupid opinions.”
“Look, we’ve met Kirk and he’s a very pleasant guy,” the actors add. “But Kirk, like all of us, lived and worked in the company of homosexuals for years and I would challenge him to name one thing they ever did to hurt him, his community, or civilization as a whole.”
Mr Cameron though has stood by his comments, saying it was “insensitive” to focus on a “sound bite.”
