Nando’s has suspended a male member of staff for posting homophobic comments on Facebook.

Steven McKee, who works at Nando’s in Victoria Square, Belfast, complained: “Raging I’ve to work the day [sic], shops gonna be packed with gay bastards wearing hot pants, despise these bastards.”

He made the comments on 31 July, just before Belfast Pride.

Several customers complained about the remarks.

Mr McKee also expressed his frustration on not being able to apply for an airport job, revealing he had been given a police caution for racist abuse.

He said: “I’ve a 5 year caution for one stupid night drenching a chinky in milk and no hope of getting the job [sic], the application got a dick drew all over it and sent on its way!”

In a statement on its Facebook page, Nando’s said: “We have suspended this member of staff yesterday because of this, we will not tolerate prejudice of any kind. Nando’s is for everyone.”
