Police are investigating, after a dead body was found inside iconic Hampstead pub, King William IV.

A 36-year-old woman’s body was found this morning at the pub – which advertises itself as one of the oldest gay pubs in London.

Emergency services were called just after 10am this morning, and the pub has remained closed throughout the day.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A Met spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 10:05am to a report on an unconscious female at an address in Hampstead High Street.

“Police and LAS attended. The 36-year-old female was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The coroner has been informed and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

“Next of kin have not been informed. The death is being treated as non-suspicious.”

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service told the Evening Standard: “We were called at 10.06 am to reports of an incident at an address in Hampstead High Street.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including a duty officer.

“Sadly despite extensive efforts to resuscitate the patient one woman was pronounced dead at the scene.”
