Only Murders In The Building boss says Queen Camilla almost filmed cameo

Only Murders in the Building executive producer John Hoffman has said the show “almost got” Queen Camilla for a cameo as the series prepares to take its sixth season to London.
Speaking to Vulture, Hoffman described the near-miss, saying: “We almost got Camilla. I know it’s insane, but yes, there was a moment.”
He added: “Then we kind of went down the road a little bit.”
Hoffman also suggested the cameo did not happen in part due to the union rules in the UK, which limit daily filming time to 10 hours.
The showrunner also made a tongue-in-cheek comment about another potential royal-adjacent appearance, that could join the already announced list of famous faces set to appear in season six.
Joking about Meghan Markle possibly joining the series, he said: “When is she traveling? We’re leaving in three days. I wouldn’t rule anything out.”
Jam-packed line-up
Season six is set to shift the action to London, with Olivia Colman, David Tennant, Jennifer Saunders and Martin Freeman among those joining the cast.
Other names viewers can also expect to see include Jim Broadbent, Derek Jacobi, Nicola Coughlan, Richard Ayoade and Geri Halliwell, as well as Jodie Whittaker, Peter Capaldi, Lesley Nicol, Jamie Demetriou and Jane Horrocks.
Only Murders heads to London
The Hulu and Disney+ mystery comedy-drama debuted in 2021 and follows three amateur sleuths in their New York building, played by Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez. Created by Steve Martin and Hoffman, it has become known for its cosy vibes, bringing elements of murder mystery shows as well as comedy.
While it usually takes place in New York, in the high-rise apartment building the trio of protagonists live in, the upcoming season sees them travel to London.
At the end of season five, the new victim was revealed to be Cinda Canning (played by Tina Fey). She had been living in the UK, but was discovered dead at the Arconia building.
Hoffman defended the move, saying it was an attempt to keep the Disney+ show fresh.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “There’s no way around a certain understanding of needing to freshen up a show. I mean, how many murders can be in one building?”
Hoffman went on: “I love the idea of however we can broaden the reach of the show and put the trio in new situations, new landscapes for a moment.”
