Bruce Jenner speaks out after ‘devastating’ car crash
Bruce Jenner has released a statement, after being involved in a car crash in which one woman died.
On Saturday afternoon, the former Olympian was involved in a three car pile-up on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, which killed one person and injured a number of others.
Jenner was unharmed in the incident.
The media in the US have intensely scrutinised Jenner’s appearance for months, amid rumours of a transition to female.
The star broke their media silence to comment on the crash, saying in a statement: “My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident.
“It is a devastating tragedy, and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible.”
Despite TMZ reporting that the Olympian was being followed by as many as five paparazzi at the time of the crash, authorities do not believe it was a factor.
John Lecrivain of the LA County Sheriff’s Department told CNN: “That is a very regular occurrence, and (there is) no indication at this time it was a contributing factor of the crash.”
Police are investigating the crash on a vehicular manslaughter charge.
