James Bond director: Gay Bond would ‘feel more like a spin-off’
The director of Bond film Quantum of Solace has weighed in to a discussion about whether the famous womanising character could romance men.
Pierce Brosnan, who played the iconic spy from 1995ās GoldenEye to 2002ās Die Another Day, recently caused a storm when asked that Bond could be portrayed as gay or bisexual.
He initially said: āSure. Why not?ā, before adding: āI donāt think [the producer] would allow a gay Bond to happen.ā
The director of Daniel Craigās 2008 Bond film, Quantum of Solace, has also weighed in.
Marc Forster, who helmed the critically-panned instalment in the franchise, told BANG Showbiz that the films must remain faithful to the original Ian Fleming novels.
He said: āI think with the history of Bond and how it is, it feels like itās more of a spin off in that case than the original Bond.
āI think thereās a traditional ā¦ you know, how Ian Flemming saw the books, and I think you should honour Ian Flemmingās vision for Bond.
ā[You should] try and make it the interpretation of the original author.ā
Current Bond Daniel Craig is contracted to do one more film after this yearās Spectre, and is expected to depart the series.
