Ellen DeGeneres says American Idol is ‘worst decision’ she ever made
The popular TV host has given a frank interview about the worst career decisions she has ever made.
DeGeneres appeared on the popular Howard Stern’s radio show on Tuesday – and, unsurprisingly, the conversation took some rather controversial turns.
Their topics of discussion ranged from her relationships and her thoughts on Caitlyn Jenner to her love of dancing.
However, the one the most interesting revelations concerned the Finding Nemo star’s brief stint on American Idol back in 2010.
Stern asked the her: “Did you hate judging American Idol?”
And rather than trying to avoid the question, DeGeneres answered honestly, saying: “Yes… that’s one of the worst decisions I’ve made.”
DeGeneres then went on to explain why she took the job – and her almost immediate regret in doing so.
“As a fan of the shows, it doesn’t matter that I sing or I know anything about pitch or anything, I’m like everybody else at home,” she told Stern.
“So I thought, I’m going to represent those people at home that have opinions…but then I just thought, I can’t break this person’s heart.
“Let somebody else do that.”
The former sitcom star also said she and wife Portia De Rossi are secretly delighted about reports their marriage is on the rocks.
Ellen said: We’re kind of flattered, because for awhile no one cared about us and we thought ‘oh, lesbians aren’t worthy of tabloid stories.’
“So now we’re kind of flattered that they even care about us.”
The popular star recently announced the release of a range for GapKids – which hopes to challenge traditional gender stereotypes.
The range – in collaboration with Gap – aims to support and encourage girls to reach their full potentials and express their own identities.
