‘I am Cait’ faces axe over ‘sharp drop’ in ratings
Caitlyn Jenner’s reality show is reportedly about to be cancelled.
‘I am Cait’ is allegedly facing the axe after continuing to drop viewers.
The news emerged after the show’s second season started and its ratings dropped sharply, failing to meet expectations.
The first episode of the series two pulled in 745,000 viewers, translating into a 0.3 market share among adults between 18 and 49 according to Hollywood Reporter.
A source close to the show says Jenner is fighting for the show and is determined to keep it on air.
“She is devastated and blaming everyone but herself,” the insider told celebrity news site Naughty Gossip.
“She has been calling the network demanding more promotions and calling her PR demanding to do more press.
“She really thought this show was bigger than The Kardashians and thought it would run for 8-10 years.”
Ratings for the current season are down by 500,000 from the first season’s final episode and nearly two million down from the show’s pilot – which attracted 2.73 million viewers last year.
And if the numbers don’t improve, Naughty Gossip’s source – who is clearly no fan of the former Olympian – said I am Cait is certain to face the axe.
“At the moment, she is taking no responsibility. She has a huge ego and cannot understand that some people just do not like her and her political views,” the source claims.
“If the numbers drop again, the show will be cancelled.”
Jenner’s political stance – which remains firmly conservative – continues to spark controversy, especially after she seemed to voice support for staunch homophobe Ted Cruz last week.
She separately claimed that Democrat Hillary Clinton wouldn’t stand up for trans equality because “she couldn’t care less about women”.
When asked which Republican candidates would help trans people, she claims: “All of them. They don’t hate gays or trans people. They are more ‘I want a thriving economy so every trans person has a job’.”
