JK Rowling refuses to reveal whether Fantastic Beasts films will explore Dumbledore’s gay relationship
JK Rowling has refused to open up about whether Dumbledore will come out as gay in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts films series.
It has been revealed that a young Dumbledore will appear in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series of films.
Johnny Depp will also play Gellert Grindelwald in the films, it has been confirmed this week.
Producer David Heyman said: “I’ve read the second script and it is beyond exciting, and I think the only thing I can say is the connective tissue that you have seen is just the beginning and as the story unfolds,” saying the relationships will “become more explicit.”
Famed author JK Rowling also hinted at the relationship between Dumbledore and Grindelwald, saying: “Obviously it’s a five-part story, so there’s lots to unpack in that relationship.
“I will say you will see Dumbledore as a younger man, and quite a troubled man, because he wasn’t always the sage… As far as his sexuality is concerned, watch this space,” she continued.
Depp has been signed up to play Grindelwald in a Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel, it was confirmed this week.
