‘I can’t mess this up for him’: Adele stops half way through George Michael tribute
Adele gave an emotional tribute to George Michael at the 59th Grammys.
The superstar British singer was performing a slowed down version of his song Fastlove when things didn’t go to plan.
Adele, 28, cursed and asked for the music to be stopped suddenly.
“I can’t mess this up for him!” she said, requesting the song be started again.
“I know it’s live TV, but I’m sorry I need to start again,” she said.
No doubt the disruption was a major headache for organisers, who had commercials to go to and a TV slot to fit in.
But the song was re-started, as Adele gave a deeply moving, slowed down rendition of the song, bringing many to tears.
In spite of the slip-up, she received a standing ovation from the crowd.
George Michael died on Christmas Day 2016, aged 53.
