Transparent nominated for BAFTA Award
Transgender TV show Transparent has been nominated for another BAFTA.
The Amazon TV show, which stars Jeffrey Tambor as trans woman Maura Pfefferman, has earned eight Emmys and two Golden Globes to date, winning acclaim for its groundbreaking portrayal.
Although some trans activists have criticised the show for casting a man as a transgender woman, it has also earned a following in the transgender community.
Despite its niche audience, the show has become an awards powerhouse for Amazon in recent years, earning a string of awards and nominations.
The streak looks set to continue after the show was this week nominated in the International category ahead of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts TV awards.
It faces competition from The Night Of, The People V OJ Simpson, and Stranger Things.
The show was recently renewed for a fourth season.

“This news of an order for season four is so so sweet. The Pfeffermans have many more stories to tell and we can’t wait to keep making them.”
Transparent is currently the only LGBT-themed show in Amazon’s Prime Instant Video library.
The show will also have some uncomfortable stable mates – with decidedly non-PC former Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammon and James May launching a new show on the platform.
