Demi Lovato joins the cast of Will Ferrell’s Eurovison

Demi Lovato has announced that she will be joining the cast of Netflix’s new comedy film Eurovision.

The singer, whose 27th birthday coincided with the announcement, revealed the news on Instagram via a video of Will Ferrell.

In the video, Ferrell, who co-wrote the film with Andrew Steele, says: “We want to make a very special announcement about a brand new cast member.

“It just happens to be her birthday today and I made her this wonderful cake from scratch,” Ferrell, 52, continues as he holds up a cake.

“So happy birthday, yay.”

The video then shows Demi Lovato blowing out the candles on the set of the movie.

Demi Lovato is returning to acting.

Eurovision follows a pair of struggling Icelandic musicians, played by Ferrell and Rachel McAdams, who are given the opportunity to represent their county at the Eurovision song contest.

Lovato will play Katiana, “one of the best and most angelic singers in all of Iceland,” Netflix announced on Tuesday, August 20.

Pierce Brosnan will also feature in the comedy, playing Ferrell’s father, “the most handsome man in Iceland”.

The comedy marks Lovato’s first live-action movie appearance since 2010 when she played Mitchie in Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.

The exciting announcement comes after the ‘Confident’ singer celebrated her birthday in London.

She spent her last night as a 26-year-old at Ariana Grande’s Sweetner show in London.

Road to recovery.

In her Instagram Stories, Lovato said she had “never woken up this happy before in my life”.

Lovato’s 27th birthday marks just over a year since her near-fatal overdose in July 2018.

Sine leaving rehab, Lovato has been open about her road to recovery.

In June 2019 she announced she will be revealing her “side of the story” on her new album.
