Little Mix transform into drag kings with help from Tayce and Bimini for iconic new video

Little Mix

Little Mix have embraced their inner drag kings in the girlband’s new music video with the help of Drag Race UK stars Bimini Bom Boulash, Tayce and A’Whora.

The trio – Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock – debuted the band’s new music video for “Confetti” on Friday (30 April). It is the band’s first since the departure of former bandmate Jesy Nelson in December for mental health reasons.

In the video, Edwards, Thirlwall and Pinnock don wigs, male clothing, facial hair and prosthetics to become their inner drag kings. The three as their male alter-egos also share some banter in a scene that sees them standing at a urinal – discussing the immortal “shake it once”, “shake it twice” line.

Little Mix also share the spotlight in the music video with Drag Race UK breakout stars Tayce, A’Whora and Bimini Bon Boulash. At one point in the music video, Edwards – as her drag king persona – bumps into Tayce and A’Whora, causing them to spill their drinks.

Tayce then repeats her iconic catchphrase from Drag Race: “The cheek, the nerve, the gall, the audacity and the gumption!”

Bimini then steps in to clear up the situation. She says: “Hold on a minute girls. Don’t worry about this one – I’ve got it.”

The queen even thanked the band for having “me and my sisters” Tayce and A’Whora in the new music video in a post on Twitter.

A’Whora even joked that she is now the “new fourth member” of Little Mix.

Little Mix has long been champions of drag and the LGBT+ community.

In April 2020, Thirlwall advocated for people to remain stalwart allies for the LGBT+ people during the coronavirus lockdown. She said that some LGBT+ people might “be in a home or a family environment where they’re not very supportive” of who they are. So she said people should show they are an ally by reaching out, sending a message and showing “how much you support and love them”.

Thirlwall also interviewed RuPaul for the October issue of Cosmopolitan, and she revealed that she fell for her boyfriend when she saw him in drag. She told Mama Ru that it was important for her to share her love of drag culture with whoever she’s in a relationship with. When she first started talking to her boyfriend, actor and musician Jordan Stephens, they discussed drag.

“When I first started talking to my boyfriend, I discovered he did a movie where he played a drag queen and I was like, right, that’s it,” Thirlwall said. “He’s perfect. Sign me up! A straight man who’s willing to dress in drag and loves being queer and feminine.”

Meanwhile the trio will head out on their first UK tour as a threesome in 2022, with arena dates planned across the country. Fans can get their hands on remaining tickets for the Confetti Tour from Ticketmaster here.
