Model Emily Ratajkowski hints at being bi and says she ‘doesn’t believe in straight people’
Emily Ratajkowski has appeared to come out as bisexual in an interview ahead of her new podcast, High Low with EmRata.
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, the model, socialite and influencer was asked about a recent TikTok video that she posted which would imply that she was bisexual; the trend involves an original user asking: “You identify as bisexual… do you own a green velvet couch?”
In Ratajkowski’s TikTok, she reacts to the video, panning her camera to her green velvet couch with a knowing smirk.
During her Harper’s Bazaar interview, Ratajkowski was asked if the video was rooted in truth, to which she replied: “I think sexuality is on a sliding scale. I don’t really believe in straight people.
“My girlfriend came over and was like, ‘Bitch, have you seen the green-couch thing?’ She was laughing at me because my green couch is so big.”

Ratajkowski also further discussed her podcast plans, pitched as Call Her Daddy meets Fresh Air.
“I’m down to talk about sex, be a millennial or whatever, while also having – hopefully – the eloquence and interview style of Terry Gross,” she explains.
With two weekly episodes, one will be a mix of ‘high and low’ guests, and one will be a sort of monologue called EmRata Asks.
“There’s going to be a lot of stuff that is about women, just because that’s what I’m interested in,” she says. “I have to be honest, I totally love it.”
Ratajkowski’s work as a vocal feminist – and interrogating what it means to be a feminist as a model – will be exemplified in the podcast. She knows, however, that she has some explaining to do.
“I completely understand that sexualising myself and putting images out into the world that reinforce the beauty standard is difficult,” she says.
“I’m not trying to shake accountability. But I also don’t think I would have sold as many books had I not done that. That’s the way the world works.
“I mean, we all participate in systems that we don’t agree with.”
