Jennifer Lopez’s same-sex kiss at the American Music Awards (AMAs) on Monday (26 May) has caused quite a stir, to say the least.

The singer, 55, hosted the AMAs for a second time (the first time in 2015). Jennifer Lopez got things going by dancing to a six-minute medley of 23 of the biggest songs of the last year. Among them were “HOT TO GO!”, “Espresso,” and “Texas Hold ‘Em’.”

But what stole the show and grabbed everyone’s attention were a couple of steamy kisses.

As a section of Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control” played J-Lo made out with one of her male dancers. J-Lo then followed this up by locking lips with a female dancer.

Taking to the stage afterward, J-Lo told the audience in Las Vegas: “I had to kick things off, you know that, turning it up to the biggest songs of the year and dancing my heart out for all of you.”

As reported by Metro Jennifer Lopez later told Variety that the idea for the AMAs kisses came from her. “It was mine,” she said.

The moment attracted a fair amount of comment online. One person blasted that the ‘Dance Again’ singers doing “Anything to get back into the spotlight.” Others slammed the move as “desperate.”

Another person noted: “We fr got jennifer lopez queerbaiting before gta 6 helpppppp.” Queerbaiting is a term which, amongst other things, refers to celebrities falsely hinting that they’re LGBTQ+ in an attempt to attract a queer audience.
