JK Rowling has been shown boarding a spaceship to Mars with Elon Musk, in a mural at the Glastonbury Festival.

The mural is part of a collaboration between Glastonbury’s Block9 and British political campaign group Led by Donkeys. It shows the likes of tech billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, Donald Trump and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu wearing orange space suits and boarding the rocket along with Tesla boss Musk and Harry Potter author Rowling.

A sign reads: “Block9 and Led by Donkeys have constructed a massive space rocket to carry Musk, Zuckerberg and [former Amazon chief executive Jeff] Bezos to the red planet, and it’s launching from Glastonbury.

“The tech bros want to go to Mars, so we’re sending them there. There’s room on the rocket for a few more souls so they’re being joined by Trump, Netanyahu, Vance, Farage and Rowling – just some of the people who in recent years made life on Earth more difficult for us.”

@pinknews If you take a trip to Glastonbury’s Block9 this year, you’ll be met with a mural that depicts JK Rowling and an array of notable figures boarding a spaceship to Mars. The mural is part of a collaboration between ‘Block9’ and ‘Led By Donkeys’, a British political campaign group. The installation depicts the likes of Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu sporting orange space suits, boarding a spaceship to Mars. Accompanying the mural is a sign that reads: ‘Block9 and Led By Donkeys have constructed a massive space rocket to carry Musk, Zuckerberg and Bezos to the red planet, and it’s launching from Glastonbury!’ ‘The tech bros want to go to Mars, so we’re sending them there. There’s room on the rocket for a few more souls so they’re being joined by Trump, Netenyahu, Vance, Farage and Rowling – Just some of the people who in recent years have made life on earth more difficult for the rest of us’ Writer Julie Bindel took to X after the installation was unveiled to say ‘I mean, JK Rowling has long been a lesbian icon, but this takes it up a notch or two!’ Rowling responded to her and said ‘I’m really confused. Am I supposed to feel insulted? That’s the coolest I’ve ever looked in my life.’ As well as the mural, there is a Tesla car alongside it, that has been crushed and a massive shipping container has been placed on top of it. The car was actually crushed by 98-year-old WW2 veteran Ken Turner, who decemated the car in an army tank. In a video showing the crushing take place, Ken said: “I’m old enough to have seen fascism the first time around, now it’s coming back. Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, is using his immense power to support the far-right in Europe and his money comes from Tesla cars.” “Well I’ve got this message for Mr Musk. We’ve crushed fascism before, and we’ll crush it again.” #jkrowling #elonmusk #glastonbury #ledbydonkeys #space ♬ Minimal for news / news suspense(1169746) – Hiraoka Kotaro

At the start of the year, Led By Donkeys, in partnership with by Germany’s Centre for Political Beauty, beamed a video on to a Tesla factory in Berlin, claiming Musk has been a vocal supporter of Tommy Robinson, a former member of the fascist British National Party and founder of the far-right English Defence League.

The video, which encouraged a boycott of Tesla, ended with the statement: “European democracy is being threatened by the world’s richest man.”
