Queer singer-songwriter Amelia Toomey, aka Girli, has activism in her genes – and on her jeans.
During her performance at Pride in London on Saturday (5 July), the 27-year-old “I Really F**ked It Up” singer donned a denim jumpsuit emblazoned with a simple message in bold pink letters on the derrière.
“F**k JK Rowling”, reads the back of the jaw-dropping look.
The chest area of the outfit – which was designed by artist Laurie Cousins – read “Trans Women Are Women”.
“What a delight @prideinlondon,” Girli wrote on Instagram following the performance.
“Pride will be a protest until they stop making laws that restrict the freedoms of our community – this show was for my trans fans, friends and family.”
Harry Potter author JK Rowling has become infamous for her so-called “gender-critical” views on the transgender community, and recently set up the JK Rowling Women’s Fund in order to support “gender-critical” legal cases.
On its website, the fund is described as “a legal fighting fund for women protecting their sex-based rights”.
In April, Rowling celebrated the UK Supreme Court’s ruling that references to “sex” and “women” in the 2010 Equality Act relate to biological sex and biological women, thus excluding trans women.
Rowling confirmed that she had donated money to For Women Scotland (FWS), the “gender-critical” group which brought a case to the Supreme Court, which ultimately ended in its ruling on the definition of “sex”.

In the weeks since, the Supreme Court’s ruling has been condemned by celebrities including Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan and Paapa Essiedu, who has recently signed up to star in the HBO Harry Potter remake, which Rowling is working on.
Rowling has been called out directly by stars including pop icon JADE, who featured the author as part of a “f**k you” chant at London music festival Mighty Hoopla in May.
The Last of Us actor Pedro Pascal dubbed Rowling’s celebration of the UK’s Supreme Court ruling as “heinous loser behaviour” and later said in reference to the writer that “bullies make [him] f***ing sick”.
Girli, who identifies as queer, spoke to PinkNews in 2023 and hit out at the “disgusting” transphobia permeating the UK and the US.
“I feel so much pain for my trans friends and fans and the community,” she said.
In addition to Girli, Pride in London saw performances from music stars including Chaka Khan, Frankie Grande, and Eurovision winner JJ.
Other stars in attendance at Pride in London 2025 included model Naomi Cambpell, Ugly Betty star Vanessa Williams, RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Trixie Mattell, Heartstopper’s Joe Locke, actress Dylan Mulvaney, and singer Olly Alexander.
