TV personality and model Christine McGuinness’s stay on Celebs Go Dating, which starts tonight (Monday 11 August) was, we know, a short one.
Ahead of her appearance on the Channel 4 show, the former Real Housewives of Cheshire star said she was open to dating men and women. That was the first time that she has opened up about her sexuality publicly, following her separation from comedian husband Paddy McGuinness.
Contestants on the show are guided through the dating experience by relationship expert Anna Williamson, professional match-maker Paul C Brunson and sexual communication specialist Dr Tara Suwinyattichaiporn.
Tom Read Wilson is on hand as senior client co-ordinator and celeb confidante.
However, McGuinness quit the reality show soon after flying out to Ibiza for filming in May, having “realised that dating on a public platform, and the attention that brings, is just too soon for me”.
So, we already know she won’t feature much alongside Atomic Kitten Kerry Katona, S-Club star Jon Lee, Too Hot To Handle’s Louis Russell, The Chase‘s Beast Mark Labbett, Love Island favourite Olivia Hawkins, Sam Prince from Made in Chelsea and actress Donna Preston.
That said, here’s all you need to know about Christine McGuinness ahead of her short stay.
Does Christine McGuinness have children?
McGuinness has three children: twins Penelope and Leo, and younger daughter Felicity.
Like their mother, all three are autistic. The family was part of the documentary, Paddy and Christine McGuinness: Our Family and Autism.
Why did Christine and Paddy McGuinness split up?
Christine and Paddy McGuinness announced their separation in 2022, saying it was on good terms.
“A while ago, we took the difficult decision to separate but our main focus, as always, is to continue loving and supporting our children,” they said. “This was not an easy decision to make but we’re moving forward as the best parents we can be for our three beautiful children.”
Appearing on music podcast The Shizzio Show, McGuinness blamed the split on something “unforgivable”, adding that she doesn’t know if she’ll ever be ready to talk about what happened.
“It was a difficult time. It wasn’t something I decided overnight, or that we chose to do,” she said. “We tried [but], unfortunately, there was no repairing it. I’ll always love [Paddy] as the father of the children, and I still live at home with him, which says a lot. We separated three years ago and are divorced.
“We live in separate parts of the house but share a family home.”
Is Christine McGuinness a lesbian?
No, Christine McGuinness is not a lesbian, but she is a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
“I want to feel free to hold somebody’s hand. It shouldn’t matter if they’re male or female, it shouldn’t matter what their gender is,” she said.
She refuses to put a label on her sexuality, saying she has “always been quite a free spirit, that’s the only word I would put on it”.
Who has Christine McGuinness dated?
McGuinness has reportedly dated some famous women and was romantically linked to rapper, model and DJ Roxxxan. The pair were spotted together and McGuinness has also shared images of the two of them.
She has also been linked with footballer and singer Chelcee Grimes, who has written songs for Dua Lipa, Blackpink and Jess Glynne.
The pair were said to have got very close and were spotted kissing during a trip to Ibiza. However, that very much seems to be a thing of the past, following what The Sun called a “toxic spat.”
