Chart-topping pop star Paloma Faith has said she’s been “begging” for a guest judge spot on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK

The UK iteration has seen British icons taking to the judging panel, including Alexandra Burke, Amanda Holden, AJ Odudu and Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon.

But despite having a Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist under her belt, a UK number one with her feature on Sigma’s “Changing”, five UK Top 10s and 10 UK Top 40 tracks, Faith is yet to have appeared on the series as a guest judge.

On a Wednesday (13 August) episode of her podcast Mad Sad and Bad with Paloma Faith, she welcomed drag icon and All Stars winner Trixie Mattel to the show.

Mattel asked whether Faith has ever watched RuPaul’s Drag Race, to which the podcast host responded: “Yes, of course. That’s where I get all my style ideas.

“I’m desperate to be on it,” she continued. “I just want to say.”

To this, a shocked Mattel replied: “You’ve never been on it?”

“I have been literally begging in the most undignified way to be a guest judge on that show since its incarnation,” the LGBTQ+ advocate said. “And then it came to the UK, and I was begging harder!”

Faith, who previously said she feels like an “honorary gay”, claimed that series producers have always responded to her requests by saying, “‘Sorry, there’s no room for you this season’- every time!”

PinkNews has contacted a representative of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK for a comment on the matter.

“And I was literally raised, not by wolves, but by drag queens. This is my appeal, Ru,” she said.

It’s not the first time that the “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” hitmaker has spoken out publicly about wanting to appear on the series.

Last year the star took to TikTok to reiterate to the “ladies, gaydies, theydies and slaydies” that she has “the charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent” to be a guest judge on Drag Race UK.

Tagging RuPaul Charles in the caption, she said: “I think having me on RuPaul’s Drag Race would give tens across the board in ratings.”

She continued, “Let’s be honest, I grew up in the drag circuit in East London… RuPaul, what are you waiting for? Let’s talk.”
