Dan Levy’s new Netflix crime comedy adds Adults star Jack Innanen as it enters production

Dan Levy’s latest Netflix ventur, has begun production and we now know its name, Big Mistakes, as well as its cast.
The series is a co-creation from Levy, the mastermind behind Schitt’s Creek, and Bottoms‘ Rachel Sennott. Dan Levy is not only serving as executive producer, but also as showrunner and lead star.
Alongside him, the series is led by The Four Seasons‘ Taylor Ortega. The series is described as a “family crime comedy,” by Netflix. The Hollywood Reporter adds that the show will follow two “‘deeply incapable’ siblings [played by Levy and Ortega] who are blackmailed into the world of organized crime.”
The series will also star Jack Innanen from FX’s Adults as Max, Boran Kuzum as Yusuf and Abby Quinn as Natalie. Elizabeth Perkins, Jacob Gutierrez, Joe Barbara, Josh Fadem, and Mark Ivanir will also star.
Also set to appear in an undisclosed role at the time of writing is Lady Bird star Laurie Metcalf. She appeared in a photo from the series’ set posted by Levy on Instagram on Wednesday (13 August).
Big Mistakes is the first series from Levy and his production company’s (Not a Real Production Company) deal with Netflix. “I’m so excited to be bringing this truly chaotic family story to life with Netflix,” Levy told Netflix’s Tudum.
“I’m thrilled with the team we’re building both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. Taylor Ortega is going to become a household name, and it’s been my life’s mission to get to call Laurie Metcalf ‘mother.’ Looking forward to getting to share this with everyone.”
The eight episode show is Levy’s second original scripted series, the first being Schitt’s Creek. Levy made his directorial debut with Good Grief in 2023. Sennott is also serving as an executive producer as does Anne-Marie McGintee for Not a Real Production Company.
Big Mistakes does not have a release date.
