Kit Connor has given us the latest update on what to expect from the Heartstopper film following news that it recently wrapped production.
The star and executive producer of Heartstopper Forever, which will wrap up the story of Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Connor) and co, has made a name for himself outside of the YA-series based on Alice Oseman’s graphic novel with starring roles in Warfare and The Wild Robot.
Heartstopper Forever‘s plot and exact release date are being kept under wraps, though it’s expected the story will follow how Nick and Charlie deal with Nick’s departure for university.

In a recent interview Connor did with Louis Partridge on behalf of VMan the Heartstppper star teased what’s to come in the film. Connor clarified that the interview took place during the first week of shooting, which places it around the beginning of June.
“I was doing rugby training today, hence all the mud and lovely stuff – my favorite thing to do,” Connpr shared with Partridge, who was sunning it up while filming Enola Holmes 3 in Malta. When Patridge quipped, “If it isn’t rugby training, it’s SEAL training,” in reference to Warfare in which Connor played a US Navy SEAL, Connor responded, “Always some kind of throwing myself on the ground.”
He then added, “We shot quite a steamy scene yesterday. So again, throwing myself on the ground in a different way.”
Oseman has previously explained that the film will focus on Nick and Charlie, as late-teens, navigating “hurtling towards their adult lives”, indicating some more grown up content. This would build on previous comments around seasons two and three of the Netflix series which progressively dealt with more “mature” themes and content such as relationships, sex, and mental health.

Oseman has more recently said that the film will “diverge from the events of volume six.” The sixth and final volume of the graphic novel is expected to be published in late 2025.
On Tuesday (19 August) Locke appeared on Radio 1 where he was asked about the Heartstopper film. Remaining tight-lipped the Agatha All Along actor said, “I can say that it’s a lovely ending, it’s fun, it’s a lot more grown up in a really nice way. These characters we’ve been growing up with them and now they’re finally catching up and becoming adults, so it’s a lot of adults.”
He then confirmed that the film won’t be released before 2026, reasoning: “We only just finished it.”
