Queer Eye star Karamo Brown has shared why it was ‘time’ for the Netflix show to ‘come to an end’ after its tenth and final season.

The long-running Netflix show Queer Eye, which sees the expert Fab Five transform the lives of its ‘Heroes’, was announced in July to be making one last stop in Washington, D.C., after a tenth and final season.

For eight seasons (and a Japan-based special), The Fab Five consisted of beauty guru Jonathan Van Ness, chef Antoni Porowski, culture maestro Karamo Brown, fashion expert Tan France and Bobby Berk as the group’s interior designer.

For season nine, following Berk’s departure from the show, Jeremiah Brent took up the post – and he will be returning alongside the original four for the show’s final season.

Though the current Fab Five (and Berk) have all lamented the show’s end, it seems that at least one of them is ready for new pastures.

Speaking on TODAY, Brown admitted that it is “time” for Queer Eye to wrap it up after its final season, which has wrapped filming, but does not yet have a release date.

“…Queer Eye is a show that we’ve always just wanted to help people,” Brown said on the 20 September broadcast.

“No matter what is going on with the cast, what’s going on in the world, we put our focus on helping somebody, similar to what I do on my talk show, and for it to be honoured & awarded by the Emmy commission, it just feels good,” he added, referencing the show’s recent Emmy win for Outstanding Structured Reality Program.

“We’ve been doing it for 10 seasons. We were in our early 30s when we did it, Jonathan [Van Ness] was in his  20s,” Brown continued.

“I think the time we’re in right now, the show, it’s time for it to come to an end. It’s something for me that I’m excited for that chapter to close. Not because I don’t love the show and I didn’t love what we did, but I am ready for what’s next.”

Queer Eye season 1-9 are available to stream on Netflix. The release date for the final season is yet to be announced.
