Queer Eye’s Antoni references ‘challenging’ journey in emotional post after Emmy win

Queer Eye‘s Antoni Porowski has referenced a “challenging” journey to the show while celebrating his latest Emmy win.
The 41-year-old has been one-fifth of the Fab Five since the show relaunched on Netflix in 2018. He serves as the culinary expert alongside Tan France, Jonathan Van Ness, and Karamo Brown. Bobby Berk initially completed the team before leaving and being replaced by Jeremiah Brent for the last season.
On Sunday (7 September) Queer Eye won an Emmy for Outstanding Structured Reality Program, the show’s seventh win and Porowski’s second since the cast became producers in 2023.
As well as celebrating the win, Porowski shared an older photo of himself and included audio of the phone call he got offering him the job.
“The morning I got this very call in 2017 would change the course of my life, how I navigate through and see the world & its people, all thanks to a group of executives and creatives who saw something in me I had yet to acknowledge,” Porowski, who has previously shared his anxieties about joining the show, said.
He then said, “My journey to Queer Eye was challenging and one I’ll share about one day, but I’d be remiss not to mention the advice given from someone very special in my life at the time: if someone is gonna get the part, why the hell not you? Go show them who you are. I am eternally grateful I did.”
“Aaw, I love this!!” wrote France in the comments, while JVN commented a crying emoji. Others congratulated Porowski on the win, as well as the job, and celebrated his success.
Porowski recently went Instagram official with his new boyfriend, 33-year-old personal trainer Zacharias Niedzwiecki. The announcement follows Antoni calling off his engagement to Kevin Harrington in November 2023.
