Model Alex Consani has said she “never wants to be seen as a trans woman” as she strips nude for a striking magazine cover.
Consani, who made history as one of the first out trans models to walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and won the Model of the Year gong, said in August that she no longer feels “embarrassed” about her identity.
In Allure’s September cover, Consani is joined by Black model Anok Yai. In one striking cover image, the two pose nude, embracing each other while locking eyes with the camera. The cover headline reads: “Alex and Anok: A friendship laid bare.”
Speaking to writer Tyler McCall, who described the pair as “arguably the hottest models in the industry right now”, the pair described how they have always been there to support each other.
‘There’s value in giving girls their flowers’
Consani said, in response to the supposed “feud” that occurred after she claimed the title of the 2024 Fashion Model of the Year: “It’s quite funny to me, to see the way that people turn on us and our identities [instead of] focusing on us as people.
“There’s value in giving girls their flowers, especially girls that are almost always mistreated. The focus of that whole situation should have been what we need to do to support one another, not creating some beef that was never there.”

‘That’s not who I am’
Speaking about identity and representation, Consani explained that she is careful about what she discusses, “because it’s important to be seen as humans in our identities.”
She added: “I never want to be seen as a trans woman; I want to be seen as a woman whose story might be based off of her identity being trans, but that’s not who I am. Having the conversation always be centered on my identity, sometimes it can take away from the point. It’s important to hear and share stories, but existence for people, at least my position as a trans person, that in itself is a message.”
Elsewhere in the interview the model said she wants to be “the girl that I was looking for when I was reading through magazines and trying to see somebody that I could relate to”.
