Trans model Alex Consani teams up with YSL for major new campaign

Trans model Alex Consani has teamed up with Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) for an iconic campaign.

Last year, Consani made history by becoming the first trans woman to win Model of the Year at the 2024 Fashion Awards.

The iconic “It Girl” had already marked her place in the fashion world by becoming one of two out trans models to walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

Adding to her major fashion collaborations, she is now working with YSL for its latest drop: the Lash Latex Mascara.

In the campaign, Consani rocks flawless lashes over elegantly shadowed eyelids, while her face glows with radiance.

The mascara, which is a water-based formula designed for 24-hour wear, will be available to buy on sephora.com from 18 December.

“Lash Latex definitively expands our vision and presence in the eye category with a new mascara that promises stretch, lift, and precision. Built around the concept of an empowering lash workout, the nourishing formula, paired with an exclusive lash-fitting brush, meticulously wraps and sculpts each lash,” Juliette Ferret, general manager of YSL Beauty US, told WWD.

Ferret added of the brand’s collaboration with Consani: “Alex Consani with her modern confidence and bold individuality, perfectly embodies the world of Lash Latex and the YSL Beauty woman in the campaign.”

Prior to securing the campaign, Consani consistently collaborated with Sam Visser, the brand’s new global makeup artist.

The model and content creator began modelling at the age of 12 after answering a Facebook ad seeking transgender models. She signed with IMG Models in 2019. At the time, she was considered the youngest transgender model in the world.

In an interview with Vogue, Consani said: “Especially as a young trans girl, I always saw the lack of representation, and wanted to fill the void and show other trans and non-binary people that it was beautiful to be trans—not something to be ashamed of.”
