Start those engines, ladies, because the latest instalment of Drag Race UK is here – nearly. Here’s five things we want from season seven.

Six winners, countless queens, a good few Werk Room scraps, a red wig and a silver dress later, and Drag Race UK is set to return today for its seventh season.

With a sickening cast, star-studded guest judge lineup and some extra special guest stars already announced, here’s what we want to see as twelve more queens – including Sasha Colby‘s drag daughter – do battle to succeed Kyran Thrax as the winner of Drag Race UK season seven.

Some good old British drag

The charm of Drag Race UK comes from, you guessed it, its Britishness. Whereas American drag relies a lot of splits, dips and shablams, the magic of the spinoff this side of the pond resides in queens who cut their teeth in pubs, clubs and bars – and often means they can hold an audience better.

Take La Voix, Danny Beard, and the late Vivienne as examples; seasoned queens bringing niche references and old-school grit from around the UK is a surefire way to guarantee season seven is a belter. There’s a reason the British roast challenges are such standouts.

Another Girl Group slam dunk

The Girl Group challenge is to Drag Race UK what the Snatch Game is to the flagship franchise; often a season standout with performances memorable to this day.

Who could forget season one’s “Break Up Bye Bye” by the Frock Destroyers, season two’s “UK Hun?” from the United Kingdolls and season six’s Hallowe’en themed “Dead or Alive”? Even some of the less popular entries like “BDE” from season three are bangers.

With a cast stacked full of performers, it’s sure to be another belter – did we mention Sasha Colby’s drag daughter? Or the several Queen of the Universe alum?

Runways to gag over

Drag Race UK is known for its personalities and performance challenges, over its runways, it would be fair to say. But in recent years several queens have staked their claim for the title of runway killer to rival even the American version of the show.

Who could forget Danny Beard’s Little Shop of Horrors look, Cheddar Gorgeous’s blend of style and political commentary, Tayce’s runway walk and Marmalade’s entire package? Not us. More please!

No more makeover challenge riggory

We know, this one is a long shot, because it’s a tale as old as time that Drag Race uses the makeover challenge to chop whomever production doesn’t want to proceed into next week, but Drag Race UK has had some particularly devastating eliminations in that department.

Season one saw Cheryl Hole in the bottom, season four saw Dakota Schiffer unjustly sashay away and season six said goodbye to Charra Tea – in front of her mother, no less. And with Dani Harmer, David Potts and more already confirmed to be the guests for that episode, let’s just play it straight, right Drag Race?

Some Werk Room showdowns

Of course, when a bunch of drag queens get together, it’s sure to not be all happy families, though that’s of course lovely to see, but it wouldn’t be Drag Race UK without some iconic one-liners born from some equally iconic Werk Room clashes between the cast.

“A red wig and a silver dress? I don’t think,”, “I don’t feel like talking thanks,”, and Chanel vs. Marmalade (“She only gave 10%”) are the stuff we live for.

And that’s not even mentioning when RuPaul gets involved. Does anyone know where the nearest H&M is?
