Euphoria season three has finally been given a rough date – and the show’s creator has spilled plenty of tea about what fans can expect from the upcoming season.

The second season of the HBO show debuted more than four years ago with the third facing multiple delays due to the pandemic, strikes and the availability of its actors.

There has also been a lot of speculation around the series’ future given the success of many of its stars including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney.

Once season three was confirmed people have wondered, for much the same reasons, whether it will be the last.

Occasionally, there have been updates from the cast as to how the filming has progressed but these have been brief and also few and far between. Previously, Sweeney has called it “unhinged” while Elordi said it was “incredibly clever”.

For now, here’s what we do know.

When will Euphoria season three be released?

On Wednesday (3 December) the series’ Instagram account shared an image of Zendaya, who plays Rue, reclining in the passenger seat of a vehicle.

The image was accompanied by the caption: “Let’s ride. April 2026.” A specific air date has not yet been released.

When will Euphoria season three pick up?

Variety reports that Sam Levinson, Euphoria‘s creator, attended an event in London on Wednesday where he shared a sneak peek.

Confirming that there will be a time jump between the end of season two and where season three picks up, Levinson said: “Five years felt like a natural place because if they’d gone to college they’d be out of college at that time.”

What is the plot going to be?

Levinson also gave an update on Wednesday as to where the main characters will be and some of what they’ll be up to.

“We basically pick up Rue south of the border in Mexico, in debt to Laurie (the drug dealer played by Martha Kelly), trying to come up with some very innovative ways to pay it off.”

Of Cassie (Sweeney), Levinson said she’d be “living in the suburbs with Nate (Elordi)”, and that “they’re engaged”. Levinson also said Cassie is “very addicted to social media and envious of what appears to be the big lives that all of her high school classmates are living at this point in time”.

Describing season three as “our best season yet”, he then confirmed: “Cassie and Nate do in fact get married,” and: “I promise that it will be an unforgettable night.”

As for Jules (Hunter Schafer) she’s “in art school, very nervous about having a career as a painter and trying to avoid responsibility at all costs”.

Maddy (Alexa Demie) “is working in Hollywood at a talent agency for a manager, she’s obviously got her own side hustles going.

“And Lexi (Maude Apatow) is an assistant to a showrunner played by Sharon Stone, who is just absolutely delightful and a true icon,” Levinson also shared.

Who in the cast is returning to Euphoria?

As well as Zendaya, Elordi, Sweeney, Demie, Schafer, and Apatow, also returning are Eric Dane, Colman Domingo, Chloe Cherry, Dominic Fike and Nika King, and more.

Who is new to the series?

Joining Sharon Stone as a newcomer to Euphoria are Rosalía, Trisha Paytas, Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Deadwyler, Eli Roth and Marshawn Lynch as well as many more.

Will season three be the last?

It’s unknown at this point as nothing has been said publicly by the show’s creators about future seasons.

What about the music?

In July, it was announced that Oscar winner Hans Zimmer had joined Euphoria and would help score the third season of the HBO series. He will be working alongside Labrinth, who worked on the music for Euphoria‘s first two seasons.

Euphoria season three will air on HBO and HBO Max in the US and on Sky and NOWTV in the UK.
