A 43-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 23 years after deliberately transmitting HIV to multiple male victims.
Adam Hall was convicted at Newcastle Crown Court on 23 April of grievous bodily harm on seven victims, including rape for four of those victims, with the intent to transmit HIV. Between 2016 and 2023, Hall reportedly passed it to five young men and two boys aged 15 and 17. Hall was diagnosed with HIV in 2010.
Prosecutor Kama Melly described Hall’s actions as a sustained “campaign” to intentionally harm others, as reported by BBC News.
The court heard that Hall targeted victims travelling across County Durham, Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Manchester and London.
A statement from one of the victims detailed the lasting emotional and physical toll, with one survivor describing feeling “violated in the most horrific and dehumanising way” and struggling to move beyond simply surviving day to day.
Authorities believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone who has been affected to come forward.
